SCI, in Cooperation with Robeko, hosts technical workshop

Sputtering Components and Robeko sponsored a technical workshop on state-of-the-art sputtering technology. The event, held in Münchweiler, Germany, was organized in conjunction with the SCI annual sales meeting and was attended by more than 80 customers and representatives from around the globe. The event consisted of technical presentations, as well as hands-on product viewing and product and maintenance demonstrations.

Speakers included Dr. Andreas Pflug from the Fraunhofer Institute, Prof. Dr. Michael Kopnarski from the Institute for Surface and Thin Film Analysis, Mr. Paul Lippens from Umicore, Dr. Christoph Simons from Heraeus, Dr. Dermot Monaghan of Gencoa; Mr. Rolf Schäfer from Robeko, Mr. William Meredith of Sputtering Components, Mr. Bernhard Schlolaut from Hüttinger, Mr. Uwe Krause from Advanced Energy, and Mr. Dieter Schorn of Magpuls.

The event began with opening comments from Mr. Schäfer, who welcomed all attendees. Each speaker was given the opportunity to present their topics in German and English. Topics included Plasma modeling with PIC-MC (Pflug); The Role of Sputtering in Surface and Thin Film Analysis (Kopnarski); Sputter Deposited ITM Thin Films Using Rotary Sintered Ceramic Targets (Lippens); Manufacturing of Cylindrical Sputtering Targets (Simons); Working with Reactive Gases and Rotatable Magnetrons (Monaghan); Development of Custom Coatings (Schäfer); Technology of Rotatable Cathodes (Meredith); Application with MF and Bipolar – State of the Art (Schlolaut); New Power Supply Technologies for Large Area Coating (Krause);  Energy Savings by Using Bipolar Power Supplies (Schorn).

Bill Meredith, General Manager of SCI stated, “We were thrilled to see such a large turnout for the technical workshop. The comments we received from the participants indicated they received enormous value from attending a workshop solely focused on the technologies they employ in their businesses every day.”
