Sputtering Components prepares for beta testing of CM-Series external end block.

Sputtering Components announces that the newly designed CM-Series end block is now available for beta testing. This external end block has an ultra-light-weight design in a very compact and flexible form factor. As with all SCI end blocks, this new design is simple to maintain, robust, and fits industrial standard 125-mm ID target sizes or smaller, 85-mm ID (max 100-mm OD) targets.

Some of the many applications for use with the new, CM-Series end block include semiconductors, sensors, medical devices, flat panel display, and thin film resistors. The new end block is also perfect for retrofit applications with tight space constraints, such as replacing planar magnetrons on a batch coater.  The small footprint of the cathode will allow the TTS to be minimized by keeping the distance between the housing and the chamber wall to a minimum.

Additional benefits of the newly designed end block include high-packing density as dual cathodes can be accommodated in a 220-mm space, drive motors that allow a 360⁰ positioning, and SCI’s patented power delivery and water fill/drain features for simplified maintenance.
