Woodring is new controls engineer
Sputtering Components welcomed this week Eric Woodring as a controls engineer.
He will be responsible for electrical controls and automation for various customer and manufacturing projects.
Supervisor Greg Halvorson said Woodring was a good fit for the position because he has the mindset to take a project from start to finish.
“He received his education while he was married and had a family. That demonstrates dedication to complete something.”
Woodring graduated from Southwestern Michigan College in May 2020 with an AAS in Robotics.
“Though the program is labeled as robotics, that was only a small facet of the education as it largely focused on controls engineering and automation integration,” he said.
Prior to SCI, he worked in the automotive glass industry. He chose SCI because he wanted to move from consumer production to custom equipment design.
“Between this and the fact that I had to relocate to Southern Minnesota for family, SCI appeared as a perfect solution,” he said.
Woodring has three children at home with a fourth on the way. Outside of work, he enjoys nature and music.
“Since moving to the region, we’ve discovered several parks and trails that we enjoy visiting. In my own spare time, I enjoy woodworking and playing classical music: I play viola, piano, and a little bit of classical guitar.”
